The holidays for me have always been synonymous with TOGETHERNESS and LOVE. There is that WARM, HAPPY FEELING in the air when preparing a meal for and with your LOVED ones.
The FUN in making this traditional Italian Sausage stuffing is having you and your partner HOLD the PHALLIC SHAPED sausage LENGTHWISE in your HAND and slice the SKIN, peeling it OFF and SQUEEZING the MEAT BETWEEN your HANDS to chop it INTO small bits to cook!
Italian Sausage Stuffing
- 2-3 bags STUFFING bread in herbed, plain, or cornbread
- celery hearts from one bunch, chopped
- 4 cloves chopped garlic
- one large yellow or white onion, chopped small
- 4 SWEET and 2 HOT Italian sausage links, out of casing
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
Saute sausage, chopping it with a SPOON as it cooks so that it’s in crumbled bits. Add garlic, onion and celery with half of the olive oil and butter half way through cooking sausage. Brown all together thoroughly.
Cook STUFFING bread according to package. Add sausage mixture to STUFFING bread and combine. Using remaining butter or cooking spray, SPREAD in casserole dish and then add mixture. Drizzle remaining olive oil on TOP and bake on 350 degrees until heated through. Enjoy this SAVORY, slightly SWEET dish during your holiday.
