Scampi
Rumor has it that in some Caribbean cultures eating shrimp during sex is said to double the pleasure. The slippery, pink fruit of the sea is packed with nutrition to support a great sex life. They contain iodine, essential to the thyroid gland and metabolism. They contain Omega-3 fatty acids, essential for circulation and the battle against aging. Special proteins increase levels of sex drive boosting neurotransmitters in the brain. Shrimp also contain iron and zinc, which are essential to testosterone and sperm production.
The word scampi is Italian for a type of mini lobster. It is said to have originated in the Italian city of Genoa in the 14th century. It became popular in the United States around the 1950’s and is a popular dish today.
~ 2 pounds clean and deveined raw shrimp
~ 10 cloves diced garlic (or previously roasted)
~ 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
~ ground black pepper
~ 1/4 cup olive oil
~ 1/2 cup dry white wine
~ lemon juice squeezed from one lemon
~ fresh parsley chopped small
~ bread crumbs for drizzle
~ 3 tablespoons butter
Drizzle bottom of roasting pan with olive oil and half the garlic.
Lay shrimp evenly in pan and sprinkle with more olive oil and garlic. Pour in wine and squeeze lemon juice all around shrimp. Grind some black pepper to taste, red pepper flakes, place dollops of butter around randomly, and sprinkle bread crumbs on top.
Bake on 350 for approximately 20 minutes or until shrimp become pink. Add parsley for garnish.
Serve over pasta or risotto if desired and enjoy!
